Staff and students have just raised another £1190 in the  2011 Midnight Walk

A group of Senior students and staff took part in the Colchester Midnight walk on Saturday 5th June. The walk was 12km (7.5miles) long - a circular walking route starting and finishing at The Western Homes Community Stadium. As soon as you stepped into the crowds of women, downed your redbull and limbered yourselfs up, we were off at the stroke of 12. Due to some extremly speedy walkers the Colne bank Crew didnt stay together for long but all finished at about 2:30am. The walk was quite hard going and some were suffering the following morning, but we all loved the experience as most said they would do it all over again next year. We managed to exceed the £1000 target which will go to an extremly worthwhile cause - St Helena Hospice, and maybe next year we could be part of the flashing bunny ear brigade!

Last year Miss Gemma and Miss Clare took part in the Midnight Walk in aid of St Helena Hospice.  Having both lost their fathers to cancer Gemma and Clare know all too well what a fantastic charity the Hospice is. Offering respite care for the terminally ill, they also offer a peaceful and tranquil environment for someone to pass away with dignity and the respect they deserve.  Not only do the Hospice provide a service for the ill they also are there for family and friends who are left to cope with the loss of someone special.

For the Hospice to survive they rely purely on donations.  Which is why we have decided to enter the walk as a team this year.  We have got together with a dozen of our senior students to hopefully raise as much money as possible for the Hospice.  We would be most grateful if you could sponsor us to take part in the walk, it doesn't matter how big or small the donation, as everything will make a difference.
